Short and Part-Time Violin Making Courses

For those who would like to learn Violin Making or Restoration Techniques, yet don’t have the time to commit to a 6 month course, we provide Short and Part-Time Courses.

These courses are designed to address the specific aspect of violin making or restoration that you wish to learm. During the year we will provide specific short courses, for example
a two week course on varnishing techniques and we will notify anyone who has registered their interest of the course dates.

The learning process is exactly the same as the full-time courses however it is delivered in smaller sections within a number of short courses. It is possible to complete one week (30 hours Monday to Thursday) at a time or as many as you like together, depending on workbench availability. The cost for the short courses is determined by the number of weeks at £280 GBP per week.

It is also possible to accommodate lessons on a one day a week basis for a specified number of weeks, again depending on workbench availability. Please contact us or complete the application form with your request.

When completing the application form for either short or part-time courses, please include your preferences for specific dates and the number of week/s you would like to attend and also whether it is Violin Making or Restoration that you are interested in. Please also include details of your current stage of making/restoration skill and what you hope to achieve during your time at The Old Chapel workshop.

All of the facilities, resources and services mentioned are equally available for our short course and part-time students and you are welcome to join us for the visiting lecturers’ seminars even if you are not attending your course at the same time. The seminars will be organised for one or two weekdays and we will be providing the exact dates to all of our interested students as soon as they are each confirmed.
