Facilities

Chapel Violins School of Violin Making is located in The Old Chapel which was built in 1862 on Pinfold Lane in the heart of the original village of Balderton.

The main hall of The Old Chapel provides the perfect setting for a violin making workshop where there is ample ambient light and space and each student has their own workbench and storage facilities.

The workshop is also equipped with many valuable resources such as violin making tools and jigs, planing bench, sharpening equipment, 2D and 3D visual resources, reference books and journals, examples of work and a laptop for internet access.

In 1889, a second hall was built onto the main hall of The Old Chapel, which has since been transformed into an elegant display room with excellent acoustics for the performance of your finished instruments.

The Old Chapel is a non-smoking building where facilities also include disabled access,
a quiet study area, wireless internet connectivity, a small kitchen, and toilet amenities on site. There is plenty of on street parking right outside the building and there are public transport links to Newark and then on to London. The closest train stations to The Old Chapel are in Newark at Newark Northgate or Newark Castle.

Please visit our Contact & Find Us page for directions and maps.

Surrounding The Old Chapel there are a number of local amenities which are within easy walking distance, including a convenience store, various food shops and pubs, a chemist and the post office. A little further (about 10 minute walk) and there is a good sized green with plenty of room for outdoor leisure activities. In New Balderton, there are further shops, a Leisure Centre and a lake with cycle/walking paths and green areas.

From Balderton, there are cycle paths all the way to Newark as well as a number of bus services. Newark itself is a beautiful historic English market town with many sights and modern conveniences.
